This would have been a 3-star if it weren't for Kennedy.

There's stupid and annoying then there's UNFORGIVABLY stupid and annoying, and she is the latter.

One of my least favorite scenes is the way she acted in the auction/win-a-date scene...

Girl, can you be less insecure and dramatic? Ugh...

Loved this book! The mystery and plot are great and so is the spice. Diving immediately into book 2!

What in the ever loving cliffhanger!!! I have so many questions and I need ALL the answers! This books I filled with possessive, overly protective, alpha-males that are full of red flags! You can't help but love each and every one of them! I cannot wait until the second one comes out!!

God the timeline in this was so janky and all over the place. The pacing was bizarre and the overall writing felt childish and forced.

This is the second CR Jane book I have read and I just don't think this author is for me. The writing style feels like a young person writing what they think dark romance should be, but failing.

The male characters are boring and I genuinely don't feel drawn to any of them. From about 40% in I was just waiting for the book to finish.

I don't care enough to read the second book and find out what happens.

Wow, this book is so good! I am here for the hot, possessive men in Kennedy's life and it turns out I am a full member of the Red Flag Renegades club.
While Kennedy doesn't remember her life before she woke up in the hospital after a car accident, she knows that the 4 hot men who've just entered her life feel very familiar to her. And the hockey centre where she now works feels comfortable too. But can Sebastian, Carter, Jack and Greyson put their differences aside to help Kennedy recover her memories and protect her from the threat that never went away?
Can't wait to read the next book after that ending!

Immediate thoughts:
I couldn't put this one down, it was so captivating and I just needed to know all the secrets.
I was surprised with the cliffhanger, and I now cannot wait for the next book!

Tropes:
Amnesia, hockey, mafia, why choose, dark, morally grey MMC’s, OTT/J/P, stalking, kidnapping, dubious consent, boy obsessed.

ARC review:
From the first page I was hooked on this book, there was intrigue and secrets right from the start. I really loved the plot and the whole mystery surrounding Kennedy’s past and amnesia. Also, who is the ‘good guys’ was a thought I had quite a long way through reading. I was surprised by the cliffhanger, but I am very excited to see how the story will be resolved.

Kennedy was a surprising FMC and my heart broke for her. I mean, due to her amnesia all she knows about herself is her name, that is just crazy! I cannot imagine how hard that must be, but she is still walking around everyday in hopes of recognizing something from her past. She is strong and determined, and I was really rooting for her. The guys did not make it any easier for her, and a lot of the times I wanted to strangle them and give her the biggest hug.

Kennedy gets a job in her local hockey rink and something about that and a trio of hockey guys are familiar to her, without her knowing why or how. There is also a man watching her (stalker-ish) and approaching her, who she also seems familiar with. All these guys however, are not making it easy for Kennedy. All the guys are possessive and different kinds of walking red flags, with secrets and a lot of mystery surrounding their intentions and their pasts. Greyson was previously a part of the hockey trio (Carter, Sebastian and Jack), but now they are standing on opposite sides, but they all want Kennedy.

I loved everything about this story. Greyson is the dark mafia guy, who will do everything to get Kennedy back and reading his POV’s was both crazy and in a way wholesome because his love and possessiveness for her shone through very clear. Carter, Sebastian and Jack are outwardly famous hockey players, but they each have a darker side. I was quite frustrated with some of their actions against Kennedy, but still couldn’t help but love these walking red flags with all their possessiveness and alpha-male behavior. I really hope that all 4 guys are gonna start work together, and Kennedy will find her happily ever after, and find peace with what happened and who she really is - but so much can happen in the next book, so I am very anxious to read it.

Hockey plus mafia plus why choose! I was sucked in and didn't want it to end. The way the backstory between the characters was worked into the storyline was perfect. I can't wait for the next one!
dark emotional mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Mafia and Hockey? Not as crazy as it sounds

I’m not going to lie, the concept of a Mafia and Hockey romance was a little wild to me but of course it worked! It’s romance, I should’ve known better lol.

I read C. R. Jane’s other series and loved it so I HAD to read this one. It didn’t disappoint and that ENDING!!!
