I really loved this book, only thing that was bad was the use of the phrase “holy pepperoni”

A Nancy Drew/ Veronica Mars style murder mystery in a small sleepy English town where everyone knows everyone and hiding a secret is hard.

When Pippa decides to do a school project on the mysterious death of a local teen from five years ago, she finds that her questions won't go unanswered quietly or safely.

Together with the alleged killer's brother, Ravi, Pippa delves into a quest that will leave her and her loved ones lives be changed forever.

Holly Jackson starts this series off with a bang with this book. Using different styles to tell the story (diagrams, transcripts) the characters develop a depth and personas that really get the reader involved.

Decent murder mystery. As a fan of the genre, some of the clues felt a little obvious and it was very easy to tell where a lot of things were leading. As soon as Pip went over the case at the start, I could guess several points straight away such as
Sal definitely not commiting suicide, Naomi being more involved than she let on and that Sal's friends were lying about him leaving early.
I also guessed a lot of parts of the final solution, but not the whole picture so it was still a good twist.
I did feel that Mr Ward's part felt a little unrealistic. The bit about him keeping the girl in the attic felt completely unnecessary and maybe a step too far? You could have removed it completely and it would have been just the same.

Pip was not the most lovable protagonist, but I didn't hate her. Ravi was the real stand out though, he was very sweet and the two had good chemistry.
It was fun and a good mystery, but I don't think it was anything particuarly stand out.
