this series just keeps getting better and better. I was bowled over by the vale and irene scene that took place in the first third of this book - and certainly not in a bad way. I love SO MUCH about this series and i'm so pleased to continue to enjoy reading it three installments in. I love the way it is written; it's smart and funny. I love the characters. OBVIOUSLY I love irene!! again, such a kickass heroine. I quite frankly love this world and all of the worldbuilding that goes along with it. I cannot wait to see where the series goes; it has been a thrilling ride since book 1.

This is a really clever series overall. For some reason, this installment didn't hook me as much as the preceding ones. Still very good, but I just didn't care as much. Getting repetitive? Hmm. Curious what the next one will do, though.

The third installment in The Invisible Library series takes us on a mission to save the library! Because this is several books into the series, the action picks up pretty shortly and doesn't need to spend time introducing characters - which I think helped how fast the story moved. It's also building on problems that weren't addressed in the previous book, which makes it a little more cohesive without taking away from each individual book's story. This adventure dragged a tiny bit more than normal but not in a way that was truly detrimental to the overall story. It actually added to the ticking clock this book has running in the background the whole time. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Not my absolute favorite, but still a wonderful read.

I certainly enjoyed this one. Although it was a bit predictable, the writing is still great and clearly there is something bigger afoot that I haven’t completely pieced together.

I found this book to be genuinely fun, well written and an interesting idea. Best bit is that the book and characters within know not to take itself too seriously. I haven't read any others in this series and while the reference to past adventures were a bit obvious, they didn't really matter. There was enough to read on its own and to be honest I'd be fine to not read any others, or to be pleasantly surprised to find myself reading any others in the series without seeking them out.
Worth a go for the fun escapism.

I liked the first book in the series ([b:The Invisible Library|21416690|The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library, #1)|Genevieve Cogman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1416823893s/21416690.jpg|40717845]) and where it seemed to be going, I thought the second one ([b:The Masked City|25761086|The Masked City (The Invisible Library, #2)|Genevieve Cogman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1434794736s/25761086.jpg|45605935]) was a bit over the top, and I thought this one fell somewhere in between. A little bit wrapping up plot lines, a little bit crazy chase scenes (vaguely reminiscent of the Room of Requirement/witchfire business in [b:Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows|136251|Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)|J.K. Rowling|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1474171184s/136251.jpg|2963218]). The ending feels conclusive yet open ended all at once. And I just this second read that there will be more in this series (I thought it was going to only be a trilogy), so while the second and third books didn't overwhelm me, I'm probably going to dive right into book 4 because I like the direction things seem to be headed.

The fine print: received ARC from NetGalley.

The worldbuilding gets even more interesting, but the secondary characters get more tiresome. It's a trade-off.

I am really enjoying this series. Mystery combined with fantasy and an underlying love of books.
