I can’t put this series down. I have to see it to the end. I am a sucker for happy endings so I hope I won’t be disappointed in the end. These cliff hangers, this one less than the last, are killing me.

This was a roller coaster in the worst way - I kept hoping more drama and betrayal would come and it forced me to consider if I care about any of these characters -> I don’t!

Also this book had a glaringly annoying plot hole in that they have a literal tower to teach people magic and then Vanhalla just comes in and has all this power and control over her power and powers no one else has and has nearly no issues controlling her magic. Even though how many times did the author warn us that rogue, untaught magic is super dangerous and uncontrollable?? But ok.

Probably unpopular opinion but when Aldrick was being crazy af with his hot and cold, I was SLIVING bc that’s exactly who he is in my head: emotionally inept and volatile

I’m so glad for the ending being potentially juicy and will be continuing reading but my expectations are lower than the world building standards for this book!!

BITCH EXCUSE MEEE! THERES ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW WITH THIS SERIES! I LOVE IT BUT HATE IT. though it really does keep a bitch entertained im always like oh.. imma read the next one sure sure.. but then those cliff hangers.. NAH MANN I gotta see what happens.

I'm also super close to finishing. I looove that these stories are so easy to digest and are pretty entertaining. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Vhalla.. interesting character.. Honestly all of the characters are pretty interesting because I dont know how to feel about them. I love the side characters more than the main characters buuut I do love when the main characters are on screen though so..

I want to start this off by saying I really liked the first two books of this series. They were written well and I liked the storyline. This book, however, I absolutely loathed. It just wasn’t it for me.

It started out strong with Vhalla on a desperate quest to save her Prince. Obv she does and then it’s absolute ridiculousness from then on out. The romance we’ve been waiting for was gag worthy. If I had to read about how amazing the sex was between these two characters one more time or a reference back to it in flowery prose I was going to scream. We get it, you two are banging, it doesn’t need to be flowery. Then suddenly “it’s us against the world!” The world being the Emperor.

The emperor’s hatred towards vhalla might be warranted (though I am not sure it is, it’s way over the top). It was giving me Yoko Ono vibes and it shouldn’t have. Vhalla has been a library apprentice, she absolutely has valuable knowledge that could help these generals. But for her to suddenly be the supreme knowledge in this was ridiculous. Aldrik should never have put her in that position.

It’s any wonder that at the end the Emperor outmaneuvered both of them. They were blinded by this great and flowery love and ignored the fact that the Emperor HATES Vhalla for some reason. And the fight at the end of this made my blood boil. It was stupid and made Aldrik look like he had two personalities warring with each other and Vhalla acted like the child she is.
