As it’s not part of the Paragon’s quest, I was thinking it was just that: a nice side story. But this book is sooo good. We get more interaction with different characters, which makes it a bit more lively than the first book. Seeing the Dracos brats was really funny as well as seeing Jade handle her social anxiety (or the lack of with a certain vampire). I like the intimitdating-by-awkwardness-representation 😅

The plot was nicely paced. I love how the author combines her humor with the twists and turns of the story. I‘m usually quick with pattern recognition and get bored easily by ‚plot twists‘, but, like every other book in the Magiford Universe, this one kept me entertained and I didn’t want to put it down.

I didn’t realize how much I needed another Kitty book until this one showed up on my kindle.

While Killian is still my favorite vamp, it’s fun to see another over-powered vampire getting swayed vivacious “human” woman. Considine’s dry humor and clear disdain for his old friend’s underlings made me chuckle. And let’s not even mention Jade getting under the skin.

And Jade!!! What an amazing FMC! She’s not so kickbutt that she’s not relatable, but she can also hold her own against Considine. Her social fumblings, desire to fit in, and inability to cook anything makes her a fun character to read.

Overall, this is a solid start to a new series, and the other Magiford Easter Eggs make this SUCH a fun read!

4.5 out of 5 stars!

I literally love all of KM Shea's books!

The characters in this book are so fun. Jade wants to make friends so badly, it's sweet🥺. We love a socially awkward queen ✨ can't wait for book 2!

I’m not so sure about this series.  Jade’s social awkwardness was over-the-top, and her obsession with her inability to bake or cook was annoying.  Her nightly adventures on the Magical Response Task Force were also, surprisingly, boring.  I did like her interactions with her new neighbor, Connor, but they didn’t really have any chemistry.
And the subterfuge around their identities was kind of a joke.

I’m not sure I’ll continue the series.
