This was fun! Good setup for the rest of the series. I like the FMC (though the second-hand embarrassment from her social anxiety was occasionally unbearable), and ofc I love our edgy OP vamp man. The fight scenes are really well-done, and the actual plot progression was interesting enough.

My biggest issue was with the wordiness. I felt like a lot of scenes and characters were over-described, so I found myself skimming pretttyyyyy often. I think quite a few sections could've been totally cut out with little to no impact on the story. I also didn't like

the way that Vamp Conner found out Jade's/Slayer's identity! That was so lame! I wanted some epic scene where he's fighting her and there's a break in her mask, or maybe she's injured and he has a moment of panic where he realizes who she is and that he cares!! Instead, we got "she had a lil papercut type injury that got a tinyyyy dab of blood on him while they're on a coffee date and he wanted a little taste" like.... booooooooo!! Boring! Lame! Anticlimactic!

I'm still gonna read the next book though. I wanna see where this goes.
