Is this the Will Trent series or the Sara Linton series? Because this one was so heavy Sara that Will felt like a guest character in his own series. I said this with the last review but I am just not a fan of this couple. I preferred this series before Sara showed up. One book was fine as a crossover, but she’s progressively taken over the series completely. This has been an ongoing change as Sara and Will as a couple have been the focus, but this one was the worst for Will taking a complete backseat. I did like that there was less drama between the two of them, but I just am not the least bit invested in their cheesy interactions. It made sense for Sara to be a key figure in the story KS was telling, but I like this series for Will, Faith, and Amanda. There wasn’t near enough of Will or Amanda. Amanda did steal the few scenes she was in. The story itself was compelling but I didn’t think it was a very good mystery. I could see the solution from very early on. This honestly felt like a phone-in effort with the plot and we were just rehashing Sara’s trauma.
Another thing that really grated on me this book, and it’s probably because I’ve been reading about Sara since the Grant County books which began in 2001, but to believe Sara is still the same age, as are her ageless greyhounds, has just become irritating. KS takes so much care to include up to date technology and processes that it’s hard to imaging the 30 something Sara that was divorced from Jeffrey in the early 2000s is the same Sara that’s barely aged 5 years in the intervening 20+ that has actually lapsed. The timeline just feels forced. It feels like since this is now officially a Sara vehicle it’s time to put it to rest and just put us readers out of our misery. Don’t think I will read another in the series.
It sounds as if I don’t like KS, but I found False Witness to be one of the best books I’ve read in the last two years, but her other ones in the last 4 years have just not been great compared to some of her earlier works.

Oof. Another amazing book in the Will Trent series.
Some might say Sarah and Will are too sappy and perfect. But they've been through Hell, let them be sappy.
Will, Faith, and Sarah try to uncover what happened to 2 young women and Sarah herself years ago after being raped. And another present time rape. Who, how, and can they close the case on them?
I thought I had it figured out, but it twisted on itself. Wow.
Now I need the next book!!!!
