this made me me feel sick to my stomach but I ate it right up
First off, this book needs a giant trigger warning for SA. The descriptions of assaults were gratuitously graphic and added nothing to the story and seemed there just to add shock value.
The book was way too long and too detailed in spelling out every detail. For example, Will and Faith figure out a clue in the case, and we read their whole exchange. Then they bring the information to their boss and they repeat the same information and the conversation is spelled out again. The reader doesn’t need this, just tell us that they told her what they talked about and then her reaction.
I’m genuinely confused by all the high ratings. I’ve enjoyed other books by this author but this one didn’t so it for me I guess.

I enjoyed this book a lot, it was fairly predictable BUT it was very entertaining and kept my interest. I’ve heard this isn’t one of the authors better books, so I may go check out others, but I enjoyed listening to this audiobook
Audiobook. Dark. I do enjoy Karin’s commentary on how scary it is to be a woman. I couldn’t put this down.
SPOILERS:
I think it’s extremely odd that doctors would participate in this type of scheme together when any one doctor had to squeal and the jig would be up. Also, very odd that a husband & wife would be a raping team. Very disgusting. Unbelievable that they would hold the women in their mansion for several days, & not be caught by the son. Which, then leads to very disturbing thought that mom, dad, & son are all abductors & rapists together???? Why did Brit sound the alarm if she was in on it? I guess bc she was high on drugs? A little far fetched that the doctor would be in on it for the very long game from infant heart surgery to when they were twenty-something’s. This is similar to another one of Karin Slaughter’s books where it is an entire ring of ppl, but maybe it has to be a conspiracy to be a GBI case?

Def the weakest book so far imo but whatever I love all the characters even if the timeline/plot lines/new characters don’t make sense at all
This was pretty good, and I love this author. I didn’t like it as much as the previous book, but it was still good.
I already hate traditional, paternalistic medicine so it was easy to hate the boys club. The twist at the end pissed me off and knocked this book down in its rating.
I think I've read too many Karin Slaughter books because I wasn't really surprised with anything and there were too many characters in "The Gang" to keep straight.
super heavy read. definitely pay attention to the content warnings before reading. interesting story line and everything it throughly thought out and explained by the end of the book, which is much appreciated.
Graphic: Rape, Sexism, Sexual assault
Long like Karin books, but twisty and great like Karin books too.
