Easy read. Great literature, no, but entertaining and kept me interested from begging to end even though I’ve never read a single other book in this series. Sorta felt like a mashup of SVU and a CW drama

Trigger Warnings: Domestic Violence, Rape

This was a lot. Karin Slaughter does tend to pull you in so you want to know what happened. This made me think of Law and Order SVU or maybe Criminal Minds. Keep in mind this does have spoilers. Couldn’t find a way to really get my thoughts out without them.

So you are telling me people this smart and this successful couldn’t come up with something better to do than create a Rape Club? These accomplished doctors planned out something where they stalked these women, sent them messages that made them realize they were being watched, then snatched them? And they got away with it, for years. So long that they were now ready to bring their sons in.

Most of the story you figure out pretty early on. The only twist that took me awhile was finding out one of their wives kept them organized with this crap. As a woman, how could you not only condone this, but assist with it out of some weird love for your husband? She was so glib about it and didn’t seem to have one bit of remorse for those poor women.

I’m not sure I’ll ever meet a Karin Slaughter book I won’t love.

AR 4.5

A decent mystery/crime book. I haven’t read anything else in the series but I liked that the author wrote it so you could pick this book up and still enjoy the story without knowing all the other background stories.

Honestly the best in the series so far, in my opinion. It wasn't as graphic as the others, nor as violent, which I enjoyed. I think that allowed for the story and characters to be more creative. I thoroughly enjoyed this and cannot wait for the next in the series!

Wow. Just wow. Might be my new favorite in the series. I know I sound like a broken record on this point, but Karin Slaughter is just a master storyteller. And how she took a story from earlier books and wove it into something new was just SO well done. I'm out of superlatives for it.

And I liked having a Sara heavy story. Made me realize why I love her character so much too.
