I love the Grant County/ Will Trent series but this book is the worst in the series. By page 46 you know exactly where the plot is going and who the perpetrators are and why they done it.
There are many parts of this story which took up way too many pages that if you removed it from the book it wouldnt change the story at all.
Theres also a huge lack of action. This whole book is Sara's storytelling and undercover work. Only at the very end did someone take out a gun. Theres no chasing, no fighting, no victim fighting for their life, no heart racing moments 'are they going to make it?'. The plot is predictable and characters fall flat. This isnt a page turner and has the most underwhelming ending I was left angry. Put me through all that to have the lamest reveal. I wanted to see a comeuppance, i wanted interaction between Sara and the perpetrators, it was so disappointing.
Ive read all of Karins work so I know how amazing she writes and the plot twists she can sneak up behind you so this book was a huge let down.
