I preferred this story more than the previous one, I enjoy the way the characters are growing and the more in-depth plot lines.

The other day I realized that Eoin Colfer was a) still writing Artemis Fowl and b) I haven't read them in a long time. So I started reading them again and started from the beginning. Even though I'm much older than the target demographic (I remember ordering my first Artemis Fowl book from the Scholastic Books catalogs they would send to the schools) I still enjoy these books immensely.

Artemis is undoubtedly the main character of this series but I find myself caring more and more about the lives of Foaly and Holly Short. Foaly, with his technology genius, actually makes me think. And Holly, she makes me proud to be female. With everything she's always up against, she always pulls out ahead. I can't wait to start the next books so that way I can watch this fairy do her thing.

great fantasy read! Read the rest of the series first to get a better sense of this world.
