Entertaining enough, but needed a lot of edits.

I do love the Constitution deeply (WOO 14TH AND 19TH AMENDMENTS), but a great deal of the language that was left purposely ambiguous in 1789 is causing major interpretive issues today.

The background of the creation of the constitution is very interesting, the founding fathers struggled to create a state that was acceptable to most of the states. It had to create a republican government without there being any modern republics to take inspiration from. The development towards the constitution and while it is being created is more interesting than the document itself, which is already a great constitution considering the circumstances and the era. The founding fathers never intended to keep the constitution but use it as a document to later correct after its flaws are realised. Yet it is still the document of the US.

The spirit of the US has evidently changed. The American enlightenment is long gone, which the founding fathers were a clear part of, at least to me, If someone does not have any knowledge of the American revolution the book might come over less impressive. Yet this book gives a great insight on how the US and its constitution came to be.

A big ol' fancy preamble has successfully convinced generations of Americans into thinking that the American War of Independence was a Great Moment For Humanism and Reason, and definitely not a bunch of rich landowners and slaveowners whining about taxes and wanting to steal land from Native Americans

Good but leaves too much to interpretation.

Whatever one's political background, everyone residing in the United States should read this to better understand the current political reality they're in. Whether you like the current system or not, one must understand it before upholding or challenging it, and reading the founding document is a rather important step to that

Hopefully reading and rating it 5 stars will get the USA to finally look at my family's visa application. I really want to go to Disney Land and Warner Brother's Park.

It's a good thing I had the Penguin edition. Without the interpretive material, I would have been lost in the "legalese." However, I'm glad I read it and it made for an interesting book-group discussion.
