DNF'ed at 42% in
The story was okay, but I just couldn't get on board with the ML just lying about everything. His motive for his original lie is not convincing enough (or there must be more to it), and then all the further lying to cover up his original lie, just ugh.
Also found it quite hard to understand the fantasy story of the books they both are obsessed with, didn't think in the beginning it was this crucial to understand, but half way through I was confused about all the characters, who the actors playing them are, but also what was canon in that world and what was so groundbreaking about their fanfiction.
I just couldn't pick it up in the end anymore. And as part of my 2025 goal to dnf when I'm not enjoying it anymore instead of allowing it to pull me in a slump, it is finally marked as a DNF (took me like a month 😂)

this sort of a book isn't for me which clouds most of my judgement concerning the same. i thought it was great at the start and it was but the further we delved into the story, the more it got into personal character struggles (which are important!) but to me, the only conflict being one of emotional barriers isn't something i particularly relate to. this was a sweet story of two people who knew each other eons before they met each other and beautifully portrayed the slow process of baring yourself to each other in a relationship, both metaphorically and literally. With that being said, it didn't really hold my attention to no fault of its own but I skimmed past a lot of the chapters because it bored me and I had no implicit interest in it after a point
edit : i no longer remember this book and it's been only a month.
