DNF not sure of the percent but after the first date.

The characters were not believable at all. Other reviews have addressed the problems present in the book. I had hoped to make it through and give the second book in the series a chance but had to bail after skipping a couple page.

Oh I loved this so aggressively much. Probably mostly because of the ways Marcus described April but who cares the reason, it was delightful.

A bit of fun.
Personally I enjoyed the not so subtle parallels with the travesty that was the GoT final seasons. In terms of the characters he was a little too good to be true, and she was ok but was a bit self involved. Her lack of empathy during the main conflict irritated me.
Will probably read the next in the series.

I just don’t think this book was my cup of tea and I lacked background knowledge to truly understand the story. I liked the characters though

ok so i honestly got like 60% of the way through this and i just . Had To Stop. it was cute! it was charming! but i just couldn’t stand the conflict???? and marcus’ character was just SO unbelievable. i’m all for ridiculous and men written by women but this was just so beyond belief i couldn’t bare it. i even skimmed the last 40% to see if there was gonna be any s*x scenes for me to look forward to and when i realized there wasn’t i couldn’t bare it. had to give up on it.

this would be fun if you’re really ready to suspend all belief in how the world and nearly-40-year-old men behave, but for me i just couldn’t deal with it right now which makes me sad bc i really wanted to like this

A fluffy book, but I could not resist reading it because it involves the Aeneid and a geologist (female)!

A solid 3.5 stars. I liked the concept for this one but it didn’t feel well executed to me. The author tried to fit a lot into the book making it feel cramped. I would have rather she focused on a few topics and really dived deep into those. The biggest positive to me though was that the characters were well written.

This was super enjoyable the many callbacks to GoT were hilarious and ACCURATE. Enjoyed also how April’s career choice was called out in her desire to go deeper. 8/10 with the one caveat that if you want your fat characters (heroine in this case) to just exist without their size being a plot point, this is not the book for you. IMO less of a plot point than in One To Watch but more than in Teach Me.
