Odd Apocalypse

Review to come.

I was a huge Odd Thomas fan when the series began. The first two books were great. The supporting characters in Pico Mundo really helped the novel. I was disappointed when the settings moved out of Pico Mundo. It seems like all the books after book 2 are just written to keep the Odd Thomas series going. I think, when another Odd Thomas book comes out, I won't read it.

Odd Apocalypse was a disappointment.I liked the first one in the series, tolerated the next two, but the last two have just been more of the same, no originality, tension, or suspense. Just Odd doing essentially the same thing in a different setting. About a third of the way throughmth book, I couldn't stand it any more, skipped to the last few pages just to see if the end would be as predictable as I thought (it was) and then closed the book.

I had high hope for this Odd novel, since over the last few years Koontz' books have not held my interest as they once did, but it does seem that, for me, one of may favorite novelists has lost his appeal.

more preachy. more wierd. i want to finish the series, but it's becoming a slog rather than a romp.

I think this was my least favorite Odd Thomas book. It wasn't a *bad* book, mind you. I still thought it was pretty good, but it just didn't grab me as quickly as the others had. That and while it was still gripping, I still had the "WTF" moments where I was just wondering why that particular scene even happened. It also didn't really explain why things were the way they were, other than someone got greedy and went crazy. I would have liked to know more about the "other futures" that were mentioned and why exactly they were the way they were. Overall, it was a decent book and I'm looking forward to the next one. I want to see what Odd does next. :)

Thoroughly enjoyable book. I am almost never let down with this series, and this book was no exception. I would argue it's his best entry thus far. I won't give away any of the plot details, but one thing it did want me to do was learn more about Nikola Tesla, the inventor. Highly recommended.
adventurous dark funny hopeful medium-paced

It was okay. It wasn't as good as the original Odd Thomas novels, but not as bad as Deeply Odd.
