3.75 stars. Liked it better than book #1 of the series. Sloane is kidnapped by the Irish mob, and falls for her captor.  The plot overlaps with the other book. So far enjoying the series.

I was surprised to find that I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I don't typically care for dark romance as the themes can be intense and I often find that relationship building is lacking. However, this book did not have that problem. I feel that the main characters spent more than enough time together which helped me believe in their relationship. Also, I loved both the characters of Sloan and Declan. They were hilarious together, and the banter between them was top-tier. There wasn't gruesome activity so I did not find it to be too much and the story primarily focused on the romance aspect which worked for me. The audiobook helped me enjoy this story like no other as they did a great job delivering the lines, and the Irish accent took it to the next level. I am glad that I pushed past Ruthless Creatures and continued on with the series because this now has me on a mafia kick.

Overall, 4 stars. The story was fine, entertaining, but fine. The real MVP of the book was Sloane, she was awesome, her attitude, her outlook on life and men, her loyalty, and most of all, her wit. I loved her jokes and her humor, I was legit laughing out loud at certain points. The banter was top notch, the spice was also fun, and the ending was very unexpected.
