Read this review and more on my blog.
Annihilation is the fourth book in The Old Republic series.
Annihilation is set 3640 BBY.
Annihilation follows Theron Shan, the son of Jedi Grand Master Stele Shan, with Jedi Master Gnost-Dural and smuggler Teff'ith on their mission to destroy the Imperial Battle Cruiser Ascendant Spear; the Sith Empire's most powerful weapon.
Like all of The Old Republic books, we get the perspective from both the Sith and the Jedi. Annihilation showed how lost the Empire is without one leader (the Emperor), and that the only reason why the Empire was a threat to the Republic was because of his cunning.
I think that Annihilation is my second favourite book in The Old Republic, as it gives a more gritty version of what is happening in the galaxy during the war.
I would recommend Annihilation to to people who like The Old Republic.

Reading this was like starting over a new KOTOR game again. The structure and style sure was close to a computer game. I do wonder what these books could be like without the formulaic constraints, where the characters could actually be developed into something the reader cares about and where the game conventions ('he switched into the ataru style') weren't so overpowering. Well, most readers here don't seem to mind.

Good book. Havent been a big fan of old republic books but this one was good. Interesting characters good battles not to much politics and ancillary characters.

Good story, just a little short @ 286 pages. I think the author could have put more detail into the scenes.

This book suffers from an all too common failing of science fiction.
I gave up by the time I encountered the phrase "lecherous smile".

Fourth Book that takes place during the Old Republic. I recommend reading the previous book Fatal Alliance so you can get familiar with Jedi Master Satele Shan.
I really enjoyed this Star Wars book, because the main character Theron does not have the ability to manipulate the Force, even though he is the secret love child of a Jedi master. There are Jedi and Sith characters in this book, but it was refreshing to have a book from a different perspective.
