I really enjoy the idea of regular woman starts work at magical company, but the fake obstacles in the way of the romance are frustrating. I’m going to read the next book because I see it is set in Texas, which sounds fun, but this series is on notice!

This series is one of my favourites, but this is probably my least favourite book in it. I really sort of hated the main plot and I didn't think Katie and the other characters were as believable as in others books and the ending bothered me. This is the book I re-read the least in the series. However, there are some good parts, like getting to meet Owen's adoptive parents and a few funny moments and as much as I disliked the ending originally, it did set up an intruging premise for book 4.

I expressed skepticism in my review of the last book that the series could be interesting once Katie had settled The Boy Issue, but, well, this book was still great. The relationship isn't all smooth sailing, but the problems aren't totally ridiculous (within the context of the universe). I read it in under 48 hours again...and only that long because I made myself put it down last night and go to bed.

"Damsel Under Stress" by Shanna Swendson is the third book in the Katie Chandler series and picks up where "Once Upon Stilettos" ended.

To me this is the filler book. You know the one that is wrought with setbacks & "insurmountable" problems and ultimately sets the scene for even more action in book four, ("Don't Hex with Texas") and as a result I was a smidge disappointed. But only a smidge ~ evident by the fact that despite the late hour and having a killer headache, I dug out "Don't Hex with Texas" to start the moment I finished the last chapter!

As with the previous books in the series, I love author Shanna Swendson's style of writing and really like the characters she has created. I look forward to seeing what happens next to Katie and the gang!

Ohmigosh it took me forever to finish this book. I remember finding the first two books in the series charming and fun. This one stank to high heaven. NOTHING happens. And when a miniscule thing does happen, well, first it happens, then we hear Character A tell Character B it happened. Then Character A thinks out loud to us about what just happened. Then A & B together go and tell Character C. For the love of Pete, was this author that hard up to meet a deadline? By about 2/3 of the way through the book I wanted every single character to die in a fiery explosion. Or take part in a massive orgy. Or win a gold medal in water polo. I didn't care as long as SOMETHING would happen and I only had to hear about it ONCE.

Fun and action filled, but it's beginning to get a bit repetitive.

DID NOT FINISH

It's a fun premise -- normal New York City girl gets mixed up in magical doings -- but the writing isn't very elegant, so I'm taking it back to the library.

I loved this book as much as I did the previous two books in the Katie Chandler saga... right up until the end. I saw it coming, but it still frustrated me. Fortunately I don't have long to wait before the next installment comes out. I'm off to pre-order it now...

Interesting turn at the end. Still enjoying the series. Ethelinda was hilarious and I enjoyed what took place the last few chapters.

So much easier to "read" books when you're just listening to them lol
