Conrad’s style is incredible, very deep, but very clear. I believe both Kurtz and eventually Marlow are the hearts of darkness

I don´t understand how something can be anti-imperialistic and deeply racist at the same time. This book managed....

I seem to think I'd already logged and reviewed this, but apparently not! truly one of the greatest books I've read so far, perpetually amazed by the grasp Conrad has on language, and his ability to make it as torturously real as possible, but through his descriptions of the extreme?

4.5 stars. GOOood shit.

Twisty, psychological, sometimes confusing (but it always eventually clarifies, and when it does, you're like Shhhhhhit!), intense, sometimes gory, brilliant.

The writing feels obsessive, and that really makes me feel like I'm in Marlow's head with him...
Also, there are really beautiful dense paragraphs that you can analyze to death. I thought something meant one thing, then I combed over it again and it meant something else... Read this again and again.

For class, I did a feminist-y analysis of a single paragraph and had a great time. The paper wrote itself.
slow-paced

Classic tale of horror that's difficult to judge by today's world.
