Just a real and wonderful story without easy fixes...great characters with rich relationships and interactions.

I listened to the audiobook and the narration by the author was great. This is my first book by this author and I plan to read/listen to more.

This book made me laugh out loud so many times, and the rest of the time I was either smiling or wiping away tears. It was a real pleasure to read - Patrick is a pleasure to spend time with, and his interactions with his niece and nephew were a delight. At the same time, it tackles some heavy topics related to loss and grief, and these were poignant and heartfelt. I loved the characters and loved spending time in the story.

“Self-love for gay people can be an act of survival…when the whole world is designed to point out that you’re different, it can be a way to endure.”

This was a heartwarming tale about a gay uncle stepping up to care for his niece and nephew after their mom's passing. Their mom, who was also his best friend, leaves Patrick in such an emotionally unavailable place to care for the children since he is also trying to mourn his own loss.

Nevertheless, he ends up with them due to an unforeseen circumstance. The daily interactions between Patrick and the kids, Maisie and Grant will make you laugh out loud and steal your heart! His rules that he gives the kids called his “Guncle rules” were amazing!

This book surpassed all my expectations, delivering a perfect blend of captivating fun and poignant heartbreak.

Patrick was 100% Neil Patrick Harris & Grant was Dustin from Stranger Things and you can’t convince me otherwise

This book was very fun and heartwarming. I loved the characters. My only problem was the narration. For the whole book the narration was very rooted in Patrick and then suddenly when Clara pops up her thoughts start to filter in and it just did not make sense to me. I also felt like the end was kind of rushed and I don't think Emory was a necessary character and those interactions just did not feel fleshed out to me.
