This is My first Sarah j Maas book and I had avoided the hype for a long time but a co worker didn’t want to feel lonely on this journey and wow!! Fantastic the story, world building, characters all of the main components for what a fantasy should be strongest in. Very much looking forward to completing the whole series!
I dived into this book again to refresh my memory on the story to read a later book in the series. I enjoyed this book so much, maybe even more than the last time I read it!
I fell in love with the characters, especially Feyre. Reading it again, I noticed all of the bits of info that Sarah J Maas dropped throughout hinting at what is to come. It was quite fun seeing that craftsmanship. I am so amazed at Feyre and how she has so much fight in her in spite of everything she has been through. She is an inspiration. I loved Tamlin in the first book when I kept avoiding thinking about the future in the series. I even let myself like Lucien. As usual with this author, the last quarter of the book was where things got more interesting and I read more intensely. It was quite a ride and I loved every moment of it!

I decided to give this book another chance because of all the hype surrounding it. I am glad that I gave it a second chance. It was an exciting book to read that had me on the edge of my seat for the second half of it. It kept me guessing, never knowing what was going to happen next. I loved the complexity of it and how everything mattered. I look forward to seeing what the next book brings.

My first thought as I opened this book was, "mmm this book has a map...this might be a complicated read." It didn't start off badly, but I found myself disliking some of the characters quite a bit. She has a horrible family. And the main character, Feyre, is so hard and beyond stubborn.
Not much happened until the end of chapter 4, and then nothing for several chapters after that, which was disappointing. I really wanted to like this book and become part of the Fandom, but I just didn't like any of the characters. None of them. I had reached chapter 8 and I still wasn't rooting for anyone. I didn't even want to carry on reading. Was it possible for a character to be so impossible? For a storyline to seem so unrealistic? Giving someone a better life as punishment for killing a high-up beloved character, a character that was significant to many... I just couldn't get on-board with that idea and the unlikable characters didn't motivate me to try. Eight chapters in and not much had even happened yet. 70 pages in with nothing much to write home about. The writing wasn't even that great. It just didn't captivate me no matter how hard I tried.
I stopped reading on page 76, the first page of chapter 9. 20% into the book. If I return I will update my review.

This book was one of my most anticipated realeses since it was by Sarah J. Maas, one of my new favorite others, and even though it wasn’t as good as ToG it did not disappoint.
I really liked the world created by the author but at the beginning I found it a bit confusing. All the terms Fae and faeries confused me a little but as I got more into the book I sorted myself. Also the story around it was very interesting, the humans leaving separated from the faeries and fearing them and the fact that the faerie land is sick and how it came to be that way was very original.
When it comes to the characters I didn’t like our main character so much, something about her bother me a little. Feyre looked really strong in the beginning, supporting her family in every way but how she fell so easily for a boy/Fae kind of annoyed me. Now that Fae that she fell for was my favorite character, he’s very mysterious and even though he also fell for Feyre very quickly it didn’t show it has much. So in conclusion the insta love was something I didn’t like. The villain was an interesting character with an interesting backstory.
The writing was beautiful as expected even though there were some things I didn’t like in this book.
