For the majority of my read, I absolutely loved this book - I thought the writing was great and it was very interesting concept-wise. Towards the end, I found myself disappointed in the way it came together (or rather failed to come together), but I did mostly enjoy the read.

An obnoxious, privileged white woman dangerously self-medicates instead of just taking a damn grippy sock vacation and makes herself everyone else’s problem in the process. It is, however, very captivatingly written.
i've seen a lot of mixed reviews for this book, but i think that it's probably my favourite ottessa moshfegh book i've read so far. The narrarator is an awful person, yes, and so are most of the characters in the book but that doesn't take away the fact that they were still interesting enough for me to want to keep reading about. I really like Moshfeghs writing style despite not loving all of her books. Although the narrator is vain and self centered with no empathy for anyone other than herself I cant help but feel sympathetic towards her and wonder if she had better parents and a kinder life growing up, if she would have been a different person like she longs to be by sleeping for a whole year.
