I've read a lot of Wattpad and Tumblr self-published books. I've read Onision. I've read My Immortal. Essentially, I've read the worst of the worst and still made it all the way to the bitter end - and yet. My brain could not function beyond page I wanna say, ten? Eleven? Maybe it's because this is meant to be a published novel, one that made the NYT Bestseller's list, maybe it's because I just really wanted more from it because the concept of it had so much opportunity. I just couldn't do it. If you're a Logic fan, go for it, read it cover to cover. I am indifferent towards the guy but I think, after the initial couple of pages, I might hate the guy. No, I'm kidding but seriously, I'm gonna give this one a big no thanks and then some. I'm not even interested in the ending. I don't care. Based on the first chapter alone, I have no interest in what happens and who it happens to.

I would maybe give this to one or two of my high school students, but with the disclaimer that they’d be better off reading Fight Club instead.
Logic is a great rapper and there’s potential in his novel-writing, but this particular story is just a collage of other people’s ideas coupled with his youthful (very green) structural choices. Character development wasn’t at the core of the story, but it must be acknowledged that several of his characters read like fanfic, Reddit posts, and high schoolers’ short stories. Cringe.
If Hall wishes to write a book for a wider audience, he should try again and get honest, varied feedback from more than just his inner circle.

A quick but fun read. The twists and turns were a tad predictable but sometimes it is okay to guess what is going to happen and feel proud that you figured it out.

I didn’t love much about this. I found the writing style immature and attempting (but failing) to be funny. I really disliked the descriptions of women, specifically; it seemed to me as though every woman mentioned was deemed as ‘fuckable’ or ‘unfuckable’ and not much beyond that. This felt like it was written by a while male for a white male audience. This was a poor attempt at a Fight Club rebrand that I probably would have really enjoyed had it actually been written well.

I was surprised by how much this book kept my interest. Mental health awareness meets "I got a job for my novel". It worked very well.
