Luckiest Girl Alive

This is one of this books that was so disturbing, I couldn't put it down. It was like watching a train wreck and I had to see how the catastrophe ended. The main and tragic events in the book are heart-wrenchingly awful. But it was the emotions and experiences of a young girl trying to navigate a new school and relationships with friends and boys that many can relate to in a way that might resurface uncomfortable memories of being a teenager.

I got half way through then decided that if a book makes me want to do housework instead of reading then I should put it down. So boring, if I had to read about these rich twits handbags for one more sentence I was going to vomit. I also have no idea if the story was supposed to feel so all over the place and every one was supposed to be irrational idiots but it did and they did so I'm going to be kind to myself and read something different. Also Christ I don't have enough time to list all the things wrong with Ani and Luke's relationship. Hell.

I liked this much more than I thought I would. I found myself tearing through some chapters, while others felt a bit too slow. I like how the author was able to get Ani what she needed without giving her everything she wanted. It felt very realistic.

I committed the cardinal sin of watching the movie before I read the book, but in this case I’m so glad I did because I absolutely wouldn’t have watched it if I’d read this book first. The MC? Awful. How this book dealt with trauma? Awful. Weird lusty affair between the Mc and the teacher who tried to help her when she was 14???? DOUBLE AWFUL. Not to mention that the book and movie feel like two totally different stories with the movie being 10x better. Bleh 1.5 Stars

i was fairly invested in the resolution of this story and we didn't get any of the catharsis of the ending. ani made two huge decisions at the end and it would've been a much better book if we were shown those things as opposed to just being told about them. it was, in my opinion, what this book was building to the whole time. overall, i was disappointed by this book.

Wildly uncomfortable with the casual eating disorder talk. You're bombarded with it right out the gate and it doesn’t let up. I’m sure it continues to go on in the book, I just am not interested enough in the story to put myself through that.
