Luckiest Girl Alive

I have been annoyed, irritated, neutral towards a lot of books. I have never ever HATED a book this much. Not even twilight part 1[yes, I admit I read it]. Apologies to the author, I just learnt that she has written from her past experiences, but it would be very sad if she has grown into the woman she talks about in the book 'Ani'. I cringe even saying the name, 'TifAni' is even worse! This grown woman is everything, every self respecting woman wants to distance herself from - extremely superficial, snarky, bitchy and oh so shallow. She has zero substance and the entire book is a whine fest. I told myself that this must be Satire, how else does one explain such vapid writing? Perhaps that is why its on the best seller list and I'm too much of a dumb-head to see through that. Alas, that was not the case, it was just a badly written character. It made me doubly sad because such women DO exist, the ones who ridicule others just to feel superior and smug, who judge women based on dress size, a size 8 cannot eat a muffin! Praises when you start looking like death warmed over. Are you kidding me! When there are young people out there, struggling with body image issues, this kind of writing is irresponsible and should not be encouraged. Thought I highly doubt 'Ani' is going to be anyone's inspiration. 0 stars if I could.

I need to do more research on this, but I'm not sure what the author was trying to do with her messaging around
rape
I didn't like the characters at all, but the story line was gripping in parts so I always looked forward to picking the book up.

Twists weren’t that shocking but the author’s writing kept me intrigued all the way through.

This one was hard to get into at first because of the name-dropping references to places and things in New York plus the main character wasn't very likeable at first. The school shooting was a bit of a suprise although when Arthur pointed the gun at TiFani at his house and then they were talking about how much they hated everyone, it did seem like a possibility. I would have given this 4 stars perhaps if the ending was different...I thought there would be some twist in there, like she had been part of it all along or even that she ended up killing her new husband Luke like she talked about at the beginning of the book. She does admit that she would have probably shot Dean and then Arthur, but that was dropped in there so casually that it lost the impact that it might have had. But it was a fairly quick read and a nice break from textbooks for me so three stars it is!

Yikes. So graphic 1/5 of the way in re: eating disorders, can't imagine what else was in store. Not interested in finishing.

I initially read the first chapter of this book nearly 4 years ago. I see why I never continued. I will never read this terrible book again. Don’t get me wrong, it was boring at the start. It picked up a little, for it to only decline again. God bless anyone who was able to read this whole book.

It is just filled with a bunch of “rich white women” problems. I don’t care about the name brand bags those white women had on display. I understand that the mc was raped, but I don’t care THAT much for me to be sitting through this boring book. Whoever said this was good is a liar. I don’t care anymore.

I didn’t care for anything. Not the plot. Not the characters. Not even the overarching story.

Awesome book! I loved it!

So, this book was touted as the next Gone Girl. Unfortunately, for Knoll and her readers that is not the case. Knoll is nowhere the caliber of writer of Gillian Flynn.

This book is the worst sort of women's lit. It's not just trivial or trite, it's condescending to women. Knoll's main character advocates anorexia and other abnormal behaviors to shame women into perfection as the only way to be happy. The whole book is a catty mess.

The writing is mediocre at best. Knoll is trying far too hard to be shocking and disturbing but her heart is nowhere near as black as the book it is supposed to live up to.

If I could give it negative stars - I would.
