Could have used more bite, but overall I liked it enough.

This book is the perfect example of why I don't take any notice of the piggybacking "The next Gone Girl" and comparisons "If you loved Gone Girl then..." This book was nothing like Gone Girl and honestly, it's not lesser for that. It's also a good example of why I don't read reviews until after I've finished a book. The number of rage reviews on Goodreads because this wasn't "just like" gone girl hurts my head. If you want to read Gone Girl, go read that book.

So now that I've got that off my chest...

This book really needs to come with trigger warnings. The subject matter was really dark and graphic and I had no idea it was coming and when it did I felt completely sucker punched.

Every single character in this book made me so angry, maybe all except that one teacher, they were all so self-serving and uncaring and just fucking vicious.

I thought this book was well written with a dark humour that I generally appreciate. I didn't really always understand Ani's motivations and I felt that there were a lot of things implied that could have been explained better.

I haaaaaaaated this book. The main character was insufferable - the book was full of fat-phobia, and such stereotypical ideations of characters- and what does or doesn’t make someone likeable. This book was terrible, don’t waste your time.
