Typical Goldie story...as good as ever. Seems like the recipes took a bit of a backseat in this one.

I've gotta say that I've read every book in this series and enjoyed it up until the last 2 or 3 books. Frankly I don't think writers should write series that go on forever. There should always been an end point. Well 16 books in this series is definitely showing it's age. Blah. I was soooo bored reading this one. The story just seemed ridiculous to me. I've gotten to where I almost despise the main character, Goldy. She's constantly putting herself in ridiculous & dangerous situations that no cop's wife would ever put themselves in. Her sleuthing gets a bit out of hand in this one too. I mean for such a small town they really have a HIGH quota of murders. The series is getting old & tired and I think it's time for Ms. Davidson to move on to something else. Truly disappointed.

I love these books, though any time you have a series, some in the series will be better than others. This one was one that I liked less than some of the others, but still enjoyed. Goldy Schulz, caterer and amateur sleuth extraordinaire, is up to her eyeballs in drama and mystery again. The plot about a private investigator being murdered was kinda ho-hum, coupled with way too many side stories in my opinion. There were so many characters and sub-plots intertwining with each other that I felt a couple of them could have been subtracted and there still would have been a strong story. Overall, a fun read, though.

A light read. I enjoy the mysteries that seem to turn up around the Colorado caterer Goldie Schulz. Her recipes all sound delicious and fattening!

I've read them all and no matter how similar they become, I still get pulled in and don't know the mystery. I also like Goldy's family and her good intentions. It was a fun read!

Not the best book in the series.

I think I keep reading these books out of habit. The author needs to find a new hook for her books, because the "Goldy goes investigating on her own and goes places her police investigator asks her not to because she will be in danger" schtick is tired.

I'm not sure if my attention span is just shot due to the events of the year so far, or if there really is something a little off about the dialog in Crunch Time. There's an awful lot of repetition and the characters manage to talk over one another, which is pretty impressive in a book. Still, Goldy is back to giving me warm fuzzies for the most part (there was a stretch in the series where I felt worse for having read the books). The only thing missing? A recipe for the much talked about Chicken Enchiladas.

Goldy Schulz, a Colorado caterer, is back in her 16th mystery (with recipes included). In this incarnation, Goldy hires a friend and fellow chef, who is facing hard times, to help her in the catering business. Yolanda Garcia lives with her elderly aunt and their rental house burns down as a result of arson and after they move in with Ernest McLeon, he is found shot to death. Oh, and there are 9 beagle puppies that Ernest brought home the night before he was killed and he told Yolanda a tale about an alleged puppy mill. Goldy to the rescue.
