Not sure why this title, but otherwise the novel was typical John Sandford. Entertaining, well written, etc.
Another great read!
I love this series. Virgil is my happy place and these crimes he solves are kooky but believable.

3.5 Stars. Holy Ghost is #11 in the Virgil Flowers series but can easily stand alone.
A tiny Minnesota town is breathing it’s last breath when suddenly, a “miraculous” thing happens, an apparition of the Virgin Mary appears. Tourists and pilgrims flock to the tiny town, people that left come back home and business is booming. Until a series of shootings threatens to end it all.
Virgil Flowers, BCA investigator is called in. While he is investigating, the shootings continue and Virgil discovers a murder that went undetected for weeks. Virgil tries to figure out the motive so that he can stop these shootings.
In the style of this series, we follow Virgil and the other colorful characters through the investigation and are treated to glimpses of small town life. The interplay between the characters is funny and head-shakingly authentic at times.
While definitely not a whodunit, this series is a blend of howdunnit and cozy mystery set in Minnesota. It is a good series for light hearted mystery lovers.

I've always enjoyed Sandford's writing, but as the Virgil Flowers saga continues, I'm enjoying it more and more. Probably more like a 4.5.
This book had a fun cast of new characters in addition to the existing cast, several plot twists I enjoyed, some delicious turns of phrases I went back, re-read, then read out loud to my hubby, plus several LOL moments.
If you like Virgil, you'll probably love this one.

Another solid Flowers book
As always with the series, a well thought out plot and solid characters. Not my favorite of the series, but good nonetheless.

I just thoroughly enjoy John Sanford's books. Love the way the characters interact with each other, love that his investigators make mistakes and are extremely human. I read a 'Prey' mystery and like Lucas Davenport the best, but then I read the next Virgil Flowers and know I like him the best! So no losing here. I think the Virgil Flowers series is a little less bloody than the Lucas Davenport books, and maybe that does make it my favourite. The two series interconnect quite often, but not this time. My one quibble would be that I thought there were not enough clues to help the reader work out the villain of the piece.
I have a sometimes relationship with he Virgil Flowers novels. I finished this one and liked it. Again the plots to these novels are always out there but I did enjoy the dialog and I like the Virgil Flowers character quite a bit. It’s a quick easy read-though I stopped and read a whole other novel first....

As always, John Sandford did not disappoint with this Flowers series novel. As always, Virgil endears himself to his reader. I'm excited for him and Frankie. You need to read to find out why. As a woman reader, though you should not enjoy womanizing characters, both Virgil and Lucas being honest men, does take some excitement out of the books. But, it's okay, their stories continue to be fun to read, and highly entertaining! I've read every book by John except his YA books, and will continue reading, book, after book, after book!
