Although, for me, not as strong as the first book in this series, it was an addictive read. The world building is intriguing but the characters let this one down. Although I liked them eventually, the chemistry just wasn’t there. Laurel was annoying in that she would go rushing into danger without thinking and I like a brooding male but Thorne was annoying in the beginning. I liked it enough that I will continue with this series.

This one was fine. I think I didn't like Thorn and Laurel as much as Rush and Clarke from the first book. I saw some people saying that he was a grumpy and standoffish too long and I can see that. It also felt like their story was focused more on finding Jasper than their relationship.
I certainly still had fun at parts, there was some interesting fighting aspects and the worldbuilding still intrigues me. I'm actually really intrigued about the next book, given the ending to this one, and can't wait to see where things go from here.

This was good! It continues from the first book where we question why humans are being "unfrozen" in this fae world. Laurel is one of Clarke's best friends and is set to be in the fae world with Thorne. She is said to be able to help him find their lost fae guardian brother Jasper. She and Thorne do not get off on the right foot. They both have strong characters and do not intend for anything more between each other regardless of attraction. I did like them but I do think Laurel made some ridiculous decisions that put them in unnecessary danger when she could have asked Thorne to guide her in this new world. I'm looking forward to Jasper's story.
