I liked the mixed media, I wish there had been more of it.
My reason for giving this a 4 and not a 5 was the near constant footnotes which, just stopped the flow.
Interesting notes on "movie making" and I learnt some stuff about that.
I liked most of the characters and I've never been more relieved than when OKB got fired.
When it was flowing I flew through it but it was very stop/start in parts an that slowed me down.
I wish also that this book "got there" quicker with the "full circle" moment, as towards the end it dragged on for me.

Tom Hanks knows how to tell a story. Emotionally, this combined the best of books and movies all in one entertainment experience. I hope he continues writing.
This was an Audible book, narrated for the most part by Tom Hanks. He’s a great storyteller and this book is a great story. It’s primarily about people and he strings it together by making it about a movie.

Didn’t look much into the book before I read it. Thought it was about a real movie being made but it’s about a fictional one. Absolutely loved how this story is woven and how I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter to find out what happens next.

If a character was named in this book, they were going to get pages upon pages of unnecessary backstory.
If the backstory was really important, Mr Hanks should've wrote multiple books and let the backstory come up more organically. Aside from that, interesting looking the business of film.

Ich habs mehrfach versucht und jedes mal das Interesse verloren… vllt auch wegen der Theorie er könnte in den Epstein files sein… :(

This is the perfect book for movie lovers! Tom Hanks takes us behind the scenes of the making of a fictional superhero movie, from the creation of the character (think Stan Lee and Marvel) through celebrity screening and everything in between. It’s written in documentary style so in each segment (Background Story, Preproduction, etc) we get an up close look at each character and the roll they play in the making of this movie. It is very lengthy and the chapters (segments) are long, but it is so well worth the time.
This is one of those books I think make a better listening experience because it is recorded by a full cast. Like Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Daisy Jones and the Six, each interview segment is narrated by someone different, giving this a depth you can’t get from the written page.
This book is much different than Mr. Hanks’ first, Uncommon Type and I’ll actually go so far to say it’s better. Because of the length we get such a great view into the people behind the movie- both in their jobs on set and who they are as people.
Mr. Hanks has made a name for himself on the big screen and now he’s doing the same in the form of the written word. I hope he has more to give to the world of books!
