Loved this so much. The author minces no words. If you liked something like Severance the show or other weird-you-don’t-quite-know-what’s-going-on-until-the-end things (and even then it’s open to some interpretation), you’d like this. <spoilers> The author deftly discusses colonialism and its lasting impact, colorism, feminist issues, race (particularly focusing on Pakistan and Indian relations), and more in such a short space. I did not see the cannibalism part coming at all, and even then, how much of it was physical eating of people or just “ingesting” their ideas and stories? I would certainly reread this in future. <spoilers>

overall a pretty enjoyable book with an engaging thriller plot and commentary on the intersections/interactions between colonialism, patriarchy and classism (material exploitation more generally, as it impacts and is impacted by superstructure).
something weird about mentioning David's time in the IDF (specifically to do with mind hacking?) and not go further into it... considering this story is so clearly about The Centres exploitative origins and nature (cannibalism as a metaphor for colonialism) its weird that there wasnt any pushback from the narrative around Israel as a ethnostate apartheid settler colony especially when the narrative explicitly deals with things like Parition and British imperialism.

I think it's a bit confused but ultimately very readable!

This was an interesting concept with something approaching a shocker of a reveal, but it took far too long to get to said reveal and the pay-off around it wasn’t enough for the amount that had to be read in order to get there. It reminded me a bit of The Circle, but not executed quite as well. Still, it was readable if not as good as it could have been.
