I absolutely adored the first book, and I really enjoyed this one too however the ending was a bit meh to me. Personally wanted more for the characters but still very much enjoyed it! Wish we got more than a couple pages for the “happy ending” but still a nice read:)

As far as fantasy series go, I thought this one was decent.  It's on the shorter side since it was only a duology which can be nice because it means I was able to get through the entire storyline pretty quickly.  I do think I preferred this second book to the first book but not so much that I would rate it that much higher than the first book.  I did like the addition of the new characters, it created more of a found family aspect in the book which I really love in fantasy books.  I think Atlas was probably my favorite new addition to the book.  I just feel overall, as a fantasy story, this one just doesn't stand out as much as other series I've read.  I feel like I liked the books but the books didn't feel special enough to make me love them and while I definitely don't regret reading them, I probably wouldn't read for the again as a reread.  I'm also not sure if I'm satisfied with how it all ended with some of the characters having to sacrifice either their witchy powers or their shifter side.  I guess at least they all live or at least the main characters did.  I have to say that I actually wasn't mad at the reveal about Grey's true identity, perhaps because I actually liked him more than Bastian in the first book so knowing that he was actually Bastian in his shifter form, made me like Bastian a little more however I was a bit bummed with what happened to Grey in the end.  Overall, I wasn't a bad series but it's definitely not one I see myself reaching for again in the future.

I love thus series. The first book pulled me out of a reading slump. This one was equally as good with some slow moments that did make the story drag a little but overall I love it. A few I was unable to predict which was good.

I absolutely hated the ending. The meat of the book was a series of errands while the characters built their relationships, which is fine, but the ending
took away the main character's power and let the guy give it back to her and that feels like a bit of a copout to me. It would have been more interesting to see them deal with her being without power, like the rest of the world seemingly had to deal with changes, than just the guy being able to grant anyone witch powers
it was an increasing read but I'm probably done with this series.
