The author continues to add shocking plot twists but they are only shocking because they are ridiculous and unnecessary. Sad because the first book was pretty good and if she would have stayed the course instead of extending it to a duology this would have been really good.
I feel like duologies are my thing. Standalones usually leave me wanting for more, so a duology provides a perfect balance. Unlike some other series, the second book was even better than the first one. I liked the plot twists, they kept the story interesting and intriguing. Also, I love when I develop a soft spot for side characters (Atty, I'm looking at you). It was a great finish to the duology, and I highly recommend it.
The second half of the book was much better than the first. Kirsi was the saving grace

Oh my goodness, why did I wait so long to get around to reading book 2 of the Unmarked Duology?!
It was great to finally get some answers to things that happened within book 1 and it was full of surprises! It also felt much more emotional while dealing with the events of book 1, amongst other things. I definitely cried more (both happy and sad tears!)
I enjoyed having the dual POV between Raven & Kirsi, so we could see how different things affected each character.
I will say, it felt slower paced than The Unmarked Witch, and took longer to get into, but once the story full got going (around 40-50%), I couldn't put it down! I'm sad to leave the characters behind, but feel it was finished nicely, without any loose ends.

The Unmarked Witch was one of my favorite books of 2022 and I was dying to get my hands on book 2. I was so grateful to be able to receive an ARC of the book, so I didn’t have to wait as long, especially after that cliffhanger!
Firstly, I loved that this was dual POV, but instead of the FMC (Raven) and MMC (Bastian), we got Raven and her bf Kirsi. Two strong, kickass FMCs, but both with unique personalities.
We were introduced to some new characters in this book as well - enter the found family trope!!

Classic 2nd book syndrome especially after the first book had trials.
