I enjoyed it more than the first book but story dragged a bit. The book could've been shorter. The two point of view telling was not that good. I think it would've been better if we got Bastian's or another shifter's poin of view rather than Kirsi's.
The ending was not satisfying for me. I disliked that Raven lost all of her powers. It would be so much better if she also turned into a shifter like Nym and Kirsi
the ending seemed a little bit rushed to me because the middle kind of dragged on forever, but i was satisfied. I think Kirsi’s journey was obviously important, but we learn so much about her through Raven’s POV that we didn’t really need a separate POV for that since 90% of it is just her pining after Nim and her previous life. Raven has a lot of her big plot revelations while we’re stuck with Kirsi. Raven’s journey lacks depth because of her halved story time. Bastian and Raven’s relationship is horribly stunted by the shifting POVs as well. Overall, while the ending was good and I enjoyed the story, the choice to make it dual POV ruined the story and took a story I would have given 4.5 stars to down to a 3 star book :/

I did not enjoy this second installment as much as the first one, but it was still a solid read.
The action scenes felt a bit repetitive, and I also did not have the impression that the characters were given a chance to evolve much in this book? Could be just me.
I would also definitely flag this book's author as "needs to let go of their characters".
I loved the first part when they travel to the human lands, and the nod to the witch hunts was nicely done. However, when they come back to the covens, all hell broke loose and I felt a little unsettled at times. I was still absolutely captivated by the magic, and by Bastian and Raven's love story, which was very sweet (despite the weird plot twist :D) - less so by the secondary couple (Kirsi and Nym), who unfortunately read like an afterthought. Bastian was such a good example of a morally grey character, who would burn the world down for Raven, *sigh* truly inspirational :D However,
Well done overall! It's put me in the mood for more witchy reads.

There were a few scenes that were beautifully written, where I was fully prepared to say goodbye to one of the characters, only for them to make a miracle recovery. While that can be a relief in certain instances, it cannot and should not be a recurring plot device! When your character has run his/her course, let them go. They can die, break our hearts, and we can still enjoy the story.I loved the first part when they travel to the human lands, and the nod to the witch hunts was nicely done. him letting Raven believe that she actually killed him for such a long time was definitely a dick move, and I would not have forgiven him that easily. Especially since she was not responsible for her actions at the time! She broke my heart when they were in the human lands, with how much guilt and sadness she felt, with her best friend being turned into a Wraith, and the love of her life having supposedly died by her own hand. Ugh.Well done overall! It's put me in the mood for more witchy reads.
