You’d think that after numreous years, twelve books and every adventure imaginable, the Skulduggery Pleasant series wouldn’t surprised you alltogether that much anymore. At least not enough to leave you breathless throughout an entire (and very long) book.

Wrong.

First, the story didn’t end with The Dying of The Light. Having read the next three books, I can’t imgaine why I would think that the series ended there. It OBVIOUSLY doesn’t. There are som many questions left unanswered; so many stories left untold. And I’m so freakishly glad Mr. Landy didn’t stop at nine books, because book twelve is the best one yet.

Everything. Literally EVERYTHING happens in this book. And yet the writing is so tight you could stretch it like a rubberband and it would twang right back in your face and give you a black eye.

Hats off, Mr. Landy. Hats off.

Now what do I do with my life?

Riveting! It started out deceptively calm and then picked up the pace with an explosive, exhilarating plot. Omen is a delight, Temper is great, Skulduggery is a joy. Valkyrie‘s story is the most intense one, at times maybe too intense, conflicted and messy. The villains are acting quite strangely, being rather sad and emotional than ... well ... evil. Half the social commentary and representation was great, but some other scenes and dialogue was problematic. One situation really escalated, so it was hard to read and out of place. Apart from that, it was a great book, full of action and surprises.

Finally making a valiant effort to catch up on one of my most beloved series, anticipating the new release of the third wave of books! After re-reading Midnight I felt more confident knowing the plot points and nuances when diving into Bedlam, and as always, Landy delivers and expertly written narrative.

Rather than describe the plot points, review the book and writing, I'll be posting a full review of the second series once all is read and done.

I don’t particularly have a right to rate this one. I started, got to chapter nine and return
Ed it to the library, where I’m sure it will be snatched up as quick as may be.
There isn’t really anything wrong with it, in fact it was very well written! I don’t know....I’m just getting to the age where seeing so many obvious social comments kind of stunts my enjoyment a bit.
I just wanted to read a book without drawing in my political opinions, whether approving or disapproving! I came for the witty banter and there was witty banter, but I left because I’m bored of obvious social comments- I don’t want to end up like my English teacher analysing stuff all the time!
Anyway, it wasn’t a BAD book so read away, it’s just not for me at the moment
