THE ORIGINAL BOOK IS BRILLIANT. ✨

This explanation is about the German audio book:

The *German* version is badly translated. I cringed!

Admittedly, while the narrator has an amazing voice, the German audiobook was also not well read, and some things were just pronounced wrong, which kept pulling me out of the story.

This book was such a well-written, profound exploration of grief that really resonated with me. The book opens on lighter, more salacious notes, only giving you bits and pieces of the protagonist's hidden feelings. But the author does such an expert job showing you more and more of Feyi as the book continues, and it was so easy to get caught up in her feelings. I absolutely recommend this book, though I'd recommend you take care to ensure you're feeling up to the jumps and bumps your heart will go through.

I really enjoyed the descriptions of the food. I didn’t love the age-gap romance element to it and it was quite a big part of the plot. The discussions of grief are poignant, but I just got hung up on the romance element of the book that just was not for me.

This is a brilliant, inventive romance book about messy, beautiful, complex characters. The premise was original, the imagery is vibrant, and the chemistry is so magnetic that you feel it the whole way through.

After finishing this book, it has continued to live rent-free in my mind since then. I find myself thinking about the story very often. Highly, highly recommend.
