Lizard is a very beautiful collection of stories. Each of which centers around romantic love in different forms. Banana Yoshimoto writes from a place compassion and empathy - not seeming to judge the particulars of each relationship. Loved this book! Also love and would recommend her other book, Kitchen.

3.5 rounded up
The titular story, Lizard was my favourite. Least fave was dreaming of kimchee.
A melancholic, easy breezy collection of short stories. Short stories are my palate cleanser. This felt akin to lying in the grass on a humid cloudy day, watching the swarm of bugs above you. Sticky, mellow, warm and curious.
I enjoyed the intimate snapshots into the lives of these characters and the hints of magic in their world. This was my first taste of Banana Yoshimoto and I was pleasantly surprised. Her prose is airy and natural. Such an easy page turner. Will definitely look into reading kitchen.
