I love regency set mysteries but I always get a little bored when the attraction is admitted

Discovered this series 2 years ago, re-reading it as part of my comfort read!

I am so thrilled to see where Wrex and Char relationship goes from here. I didn’t think it was who it was until the very end !! This series has become my palette cleansers for fantasy, purely because I don’t like romance books.

This series is shaping up to be set of fun, quick, yet predictable books. I have enjoyed books 1 and 2, but I also find myself a little annoyed by the over-use of Regency slang and the unsubtle use of period-specific cultural references. There’s a formulaic nature to the interactions between the characters, and the mystery as a whole, which means these books will always be entertaining, but not much more. That being said—there’s a time and a place for books that are simply entertaining, so overall these books are good enough.
