ok i read this book forever ago and don’t remember most of it except that it was rly crazy. like what kind of wattpad muscular mysterious dark haired boy falling for the unconventionally pretty girl crap did i read. i have no idea. also i hated the main character so fing much. like the whole idea of this book was that her bf was crap and she basically needed to break up with him but instead of doing that she just cheats in him. and then when he does the same thing she has a fing mental breakdown. it was so fing weird lmao.

I came very close to DNFing this at various sections of the book. The characters in this book did not seem fleshed out, and were just bland. The plot itself was interesting, but I feel like the twist could have been written differently.

This is your typical romance. I'm a fan of Abby Glines' Field Party series for my high school students so this book was much anticipated. This book a great premise but I felt like it wasn't fully developed. There is a bit of a twist midway through that could have been pretty awesome but the second half was a letdown. Nothing new here, but highly readable.
Note: I read this as an ARC for consideration in my high school library, but it's a little too steamy (basically due to one scene).

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll be general here. Really boring, one dimensional, and just overall silly.
This is the fastest I’ve gotten through a book in I don’t know how long. Leave it to one of my favorite authors to get the job done. There is just something about Abbi Glines and I don’t know if it’s the writing, characters, plots, or a combination of everything the just pulls me in and gets to me.
This book was pretty good but it is definitely different than any of her other books. I was unaware of the plot twist as I hadn’t read any reviews before starting this book. I usually have some hints about twists before they happen so this one totally caught me off guard. I expected part two to be that Crawford wakes up and that Vale has to adjust to her new revelations about herself and her relationship with him as well as her new found feelings for Slate. To find out she’s actually the one in the coma was a shocker. I mean it made sense that she was dreaming in a sense and the people that were around her and talking to here were “main characters” in her dream but I just don’t understand the significance. Why? Why didn’t the author just continue with the first part in the second? Why did Vale dream she was visiting Crawford in the hospital when she was really the one in the hospital? The whole situation was just kind of weird and I kind of liked the first part better and would have preferred a continuation to that scenario to what actually happened in part two. I guess what bothers me is I just don’t understand why. Why make us think Crawford is in a coma and then surprise it’s Vale? I just don’t get it.
I did enjoy the book but I was just kind of confused with the two parts. I was kind of thrown off in part one because it was in only Vale’s point of view and Abbi Gline’s always writes from multiples characters perspectives. It was easy to get through and made me shed some tears but one of the most odd books I’ve read.

So... I’m giving this 3 stars because I really, really enjoyed the first half.
Then the plot twist happened. It made no sense at all, and nothing was explained. It bugged me. It felt too forced and honestly wasn’t needed.
That being said, I did enjoy parts of it and it was an easy read

“Life tosses you things you’re not expecting. This won’t be the first big hurdle in your life. What you have to learn is that you’re strong enough to live anyway.”
“Life had dealt me some difficult cards, but I was going to find my own path now.”
As She Fades is a consuming and completely unexpected love story. Imagine having everything you want at your fingertips. All your hopes and dreams are about to come true, until one fateful moment. One moment that will forever change your life as you know it. What you know and what you think you wanted are suddenly different. How do you accept this new truth? How can you move on???
As She Fades sucked me in from the very first page. I was intrigued by Vale’s story and was in awe of her devotion to Crawford. She was selfless and stood by his side waiting for him to wake up despite how dire things were looking. However, this devotion came at a cost. Vale forgot how to live and was stuck. The last thing she ever planned on was meeting Slate. Slate is her total opposite in every way. And as much as she should stay away, she can’t help but feel the pull towards him. As their friendship progresses, Vale starts to see the things that she is missing out on and remembers what it’s like to live. And just when you have an idea of where things will go for Vale and Slate, the rug will be pulled out from them, giving way to one of the craziest twists I have ever read…
As She Fades is fresh and has a very unique story-line with a Wizard of Oz quality to it. Vale’s story is consuming and will pull at your heart. It will have you wondering what is right and what is wrong? What is real? What you would do if you were in her place? Her story is one of moving on and self discovery. It is a story of finding love in a most unexpected place.
I couldn’t get enough of Vale and Slate together. Their friendship was so real and honest. They knew the score from the very beginning and seeing them both change was pretty special. Their pull to each other was undeniable and had me aching for more.
My only complaint was the ending. I was left wanting more. I was longing for an epilogue or maybe just one more chapter to Slate and Vale’s story. I mean, after all the ups and downs, after all they went through…I just feel like there needed to be more.
Overall, I thought As She Fades is a very good story. I fell in love at page one. I loved the characters and the story. I was utterly consumed and could not put this book down. It was a great read to spend the day getting lost in.
