That was very interesting mix of sci-fi + fantasy..."Hive" and "Huntress" felt uncomfortable in an appropriate because the teen-peer pressure dynamics felt realistic + scary to think how real certain aspects of the teen bully mind is. "Hive" is interesting and scary accurate to read with social media being all the rage amongst young people now. I also liked Charles de Lint's tale...very much a trademark of his magical realism story telling style.

I never finished it. There were a few good stories. The best was Tamora Pierce's Huntress. I can always rely on Tamora Pierce to give a good story. The first few were also good, but the book went down hill from there
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be looking for both its predecessor as well as anything else on the imprint. The stories encompassed a wide range of good writing; there was only one story I honestly didn’t like. This was the first anthology I can remember reading cover to cover in one go. My favorites, in order, were “Cousins,” “Hives,” (odd because I don’t read science fiction), “Little (Grrl) Lost,” and “Wintermoon Wish.”
This is a great collection. I only skipped one story and had to drag my way through one other. There were stories I would like to teach and stories I reread a couple of times. The collection is just great. I will be checking out a few new authors now as well. I wish they still did this anthology! Really worth the read. Love this collection.
I didn't read two stories in this book (the Foster and Lee stories) because I decided I wasn't in the mood to read about aliens. I picked this anthology up because I love Kelly Link. I enjoyed her story, but my favorite of the bunch was Ellen Klages' "In the House of the Seven Librarians.
This is a book of short stories. They are suppossed to be fantasy or sci-fi that have something to do with teens. I kept reading this 500 pluss page book thinking it would get better. There were two stories that were okay and the rest were awful. One story was someone's dream. In an author's note, another author openly admits tweaking her story so it would be included in the book. It almost made me give up my resolve to finish any book that I start...almost.
Has a wonderful story that takes place entirely in an old Carnegie library, in which 7 librarians raise a baby girl who's abandoned on the library doorstep. Anyone who's ever worked in a library would probably enjoy this story. Title: In the House of the Seven Librarians; author: Ellen Klages. .
I started reading this book for the story _In the House of the Seven Librarians_ by Ellen Klages. A coworker had given me a chance to read that short story several years ago, and while it took me a while to find the book again, I really wanted to re-read this whimsical little story about Dinsy and her seven librarian guardians. Once I finished that short story for the second time (loved it just as much as the first time!), I decided to read the rest of the book. Most of the stories where pleasant over all and a couple were also great short reads. A couple of them were so.... abstract, that they didn't strike me as anything worth recommending. So, 4 stars because while most of this anthology was a fun experience, there were couple stories here not worth bothering with.
