This book was a suspenseful look at the human psyche and what happens when the hunter becomes the hunted. It was a well written, fast read but the ending left me confused. Im still not sure I understand what took place there.

A very interesting book but with a very predictable ending. The ending wasn’t ruined for me for The Twist™️ being so obvious the whole time, the concept was fresh and new and the writing was style was excellent. I personally would’ve loved more poetic justice to be had but ultimately it was a great book. Super quick read too!

I didn’t really enjoy this book. The story line was ok-ish. The twists were good but I just couldn’t get into the characters. They seemed dull and boring.

I sped read through this, which is never a good sign. I'm not sure what people mean when they say they don't understand what happened in the end. Unless we read something different, it seems rather clear. I have a soft spot for revenge stories, even if they're brutal like this one. The writing style was pretty good. I also haven't read any of the author's other books so I didn't go in expecting anything. Overall, a decent read for a novella. I'll pass forward the ARC and forget this story though.

Oh bummer. This was awesome until the final page. I loved it. Completely fucked up. I’ve read a couple reviews on here saying that by the end, you don’t know who’s worse, Muna or the family who stole her (and enslaved her, and mutilated her, and tortured her, and raped her). I’m gonna firmly sit on Muna’s side with this one. Fuck that family, you hammer them to death if you want Muna. You do you.

This was a good one... until the final page. I’m not entirely sure how it actually ended? It was extremely quick and vague in those final moments, and I feel like I just invested myself into this story and just... didn’t get an ending at all.
Sure we can wonder if the devil was real all along and took Muna and Ebuka in those final moments or if the devil really was in her head all along, but honestly, a quick paragraph doesn’t wrap it up. I don’t mind ambiguous endings but this was just a random paragraph chucked in too quickly and didn’t really give you anything. It didn’t fit. There was no lead up to it. I feel like I’ve turned a movie off five minutes before the end. It looks like most people on here agree about the ending too.
It’s my only criticism. The bulk of this book was on point, and I want to give it more praise.... but it didn’t have an ending.

I’m going to read more of this author in future. I do think she’s excellent at what she does.

A dark and twisted story about revenge. The premise was intriguing but the execution particularly later in the story left something to be desired. At the end, for all the grotesque descriptions of abuse, everything felt underdeveloped and unremarkable.

Creepy and kind of racist
