I have to start off by admitting that I almost unhauled this book several times. I also have to say that I am so so glad that I didn’t. Someone on twitter mentioned that this has a bisexual main character and that’s what made me hold onto it and finally pick it up.
Spellbook of the Lost and Found follows several different characters. There are two trios. The first is Laurel, Ash, and Holly. I was honestly so confused by these girls. I liked them. They’re seen as ‘other’ by everyone in their lives. But they find one another and I really liked their friendship (for the most part). As the story goes on, it’s clear that their friendship isn’t the healthiest. They meet a boy named Jude and all three of them love him. But Jude isn’t the best influence. I didn’t like how he got in between the friends. I really thought it was fascinating (but also enjoyable confusing) how the story of these three girls intertwined with the story of the others.
The second group is Olive, her best friend Rose, then the twins, Hazel and Rowan, and their closest friend, Ivy. In the beginning, we get a bit of how close Olive and Rose are, but they grow distant for a while. I liked their friendship. Rose distanced herself from Olive because she’s dealing with something very difficult. I thought Rose’s story was dealt with thoughtfully. I really liked Rose. I also liked Olive. She has a younger sister and brother. I liked how Olive grew closer with her sister toward the end of the story. I’m a sucker for sibling relationships. When Rose and Olive meet the twins and Ivy they start to put the pieces together. Everyone is losing things. But then they find the spellbook that the trio used to find their diaries. But when they cast that spell they didn’t realize it would cause others to lose things. The second group starts finding the trio’s diary pages and are realizing they cast the spell to find lost things.
Honestly, this book was really confusing in the best way possible. Once the second group starts putting the pieces together the story really came together. I spend entirely too long guessing who the trio was from the people that the second group met in their perspectives. I did not predict at all who they really were, but I really enjoyed this twist and how the truth was revealed. I loved the relationships, all of them. This story was full of emotion and I thought the author did such a great job bringing the characters to life.
I also just have to say this book is perfect for the spooky season. It’s full of questions and magic and is a little creepy at times. I think the suspense and confusion really set the tone. I was at the edge of my seat (literally, I read this in the car and I was so tense the whole time.) The mystery of what’s going on combined with the magical elements really makes this book great for the fall.

I want to thank NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for providing me with this copy in exchange for an honest review
Wow, I ended up being much better than I expected! , I really enjoyed the book and all the time I felt that it reminded me of The Raven Boys since the plot has a lot of mystery, friendship and magical realism. A great book that grows a lot as you read it, it has a very interesting concept, a great diversity of characters and a very catchy writing style

4/5 Stars

The plot follows three girls, who are the main characters of the book, who begin to notice that many of their personal objects have disappeared. It all starts with an object as simple as a jewel, but it grows until they loses many more important things. One day one of them finds a Spellbook with which they think they can recover their lost objects, but this magic is much more complex than they expected so they have to sacrifice some things in order to recover others.
I decided to make this a kind of "short" review, I hope so lol, for two reasons, first I don't have the time to write a more detailed review today and I don't want to prolong the review for later because I really want to share my thoughts with you now, and secondly because I believe that this is a book to which everyone should enter without knowing more than necessary and so I assure you that you'll be surprised as I've done it

The book starts being a bit confusing and at first I find it hard to follow but it also has a writing style that wraps you in a way that makes you want to keep reading. It's my first time tried with the author and I'm very happy to have done it, her handling of the mystery and the suspense is very good, it makes the reading a bit creepy but that is one of the things that I've liked most. The diversity in content is to highlight
We have so many characters here OMG, although it's great on the one hand it can also be somewhat confusing and I haven't had enough time to know them deeply, even so I have several POV's that I've enjoyed more than others due to the characters that appeared in them, but sometimes keeping it simple is a little better.
Even so one of the good things that brought this amount of girls, is a great variety of personalities and diversity, which is fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised that a couple of the girls proclaim themselves openly bisexual and lesbian, that makes this reading an LGBT + read and that's really cool, I think many more people will find this as an interest reading now that you know that fact
Magic in the book plays a central role and gives an mystery aura , will also put the characters to take unexpected desissions which will give us very good and entrancing twists in the plot. This book tells about everything with a great atmosphere management, it makes you feel that you are in the place where everything is happening, which is incredible

I really wanted to finish it a couple of days ago because it was the date of its release, but I didn't get the chance, I still enjoy it a lot and that's what matters! , So if you liked The Raven Boys and you're looking for something similar, I highly recommend this book, also plays important topics such as sexuality, friendship, family and how to deal with loss

Too YA- opening scene about getting drunk/wasted- not interested.
There are sex scenes with teenagers, and an unnecessary incest plot twist, but other than that, I enjoyed it a lot.
It's complex and takes a while to really make sense. It's an amazing feeling once it all comes together! It also has canon LGBT content.

Moïra Fowley-Doyle has a way of revealing magic in the ordinary and this book walks the fine line between what is real because it is material and what is real because we feel it in our souls. I like Spellbook even more than The Accident Season.
Another wonderful book by Moira Fowley-Doyle. She did a great job of blurring the lines between magic and coincidence and building & revealing mysteries.
Darker than I imagined, and more disturbing. I don't recommend reading this at night!
It is a well thought-out story, and I enjoyed the premise, but it shook me more than I thought it would. Again, mostly because I read it before bed, but also because there is a rape included that I wasn't expecting, and it was very similar to my own.
Occasionally I would become confused half-way through a chapter on who was speaking (Either Olive or Hazel) and had to go back to check, but other than that it was a smooth read. I loved the LGBTQ and diverse inclusion that felt natural and not forced, or included just to have that tag.
Even though some of it was more horror than expected, it was so interesting I couldn't put it down.

This book was so different than other things I’ve read. I personally didn’t connect to the writing style much, but I thought the plot was really Interesting and the plot twist at the end really got me! I also was really spooked out by some of the scenes in the woods, and liked the atmosphere of the book. Would be a good October read! Most of the book kind of lulled for me, but there were enough good parts that it kept me reading.
