I loved Real Life and was excited to read this. It felt like it had similar angst and explored similar themes, but less successfully for me. Taylor describes a certain kind of human discomfort extremely well and I admire his writing. It just didn’t hit right with me this time as much as it did the first.

some scenes were so cringe all i could do is close the book and yell CORNYYYY. there wasn’t enough depth to give the characters redemption. i enjoyed reading it. i liked the pace, placing short chapters of unrelated, new characters and stories, and then going back to the story. it felt like the author relied on those so much he forgot to write the repeating characters with that same fullness. it was GAY so i’ll give it that. but mostly, inmemorable.
