It’s all connected

I liked it enough that I finished it in a day, and the story definitely had a lot of twists and turns to keep me interested.

It kind of feels like a screenplay though. Like this would make a very interesting movie, especially if they played up the New England dark academia vibe that the cover hints at (but doesn't really go for in the actual book).

It ends really, really abruptly though. Just when we find out who the killer actually, probably is, the book just... ends. Which is a weird choice. A really weird choice. We never even find out if Brynn - the main character -

. Which ended up being a dropped plot thread anyway.

Anyway, this book needed about 20 more pages to feel complete, but otherwise it was a fun, absorbing read.

ETA on 12/6/22: I just came across my own review and don't even remember reading this book. I can't remember a single identifying detail about this book. I feel like I should bump it down a star simply because I can't even remember reading it a few months ago.

Karen McManus books are so easy to fall into. Her plots are twisty and turny and I never see where they’re going until suddenly, right at the end, the puzzle picture becomes clear. This latest one was no different. I loved my time with Brynn and Tripp, and I’m going to keep right on reading & enjoying every book she writes.

I loved this book so much! The character development and the plot were really well done. I read the whole book in 2 days and that's only cause I didn't start it until night. I do wish there was a little more closure at the end with who killed him and what happens with Shane, but it was enough that I wasn't upset about the ending. I also loved the One Of Us Is Lying reference. Overall really good book, I would highly recommend it!
dark mysterious

Unlikable characters, I hated the male narrator, the story wasn't that exciting, I think the author tries really hard to make it twisty but it just didn't work for me.
