I was scared of a repeat of Anne of Windy Poplars in this book being that it was one of the last books written by the author and I found it getting quite repetitive and formulaic by the last third of the book unfortunately but I’m pleasantly suprised as it was really enjoyable for the most part!

My kids and I enjoyed this lovely continuation of the Anne series. Won't be of any interest to those who haven't read the previous books but for those who have, it's fun to see the next generation emerge and grow. Only thing I could have done without are the last two chapters (not really a spoiler, just a heads up) in which Anne becomes jealous of an ex-girlfriend of Gilbert's and reflects on her own desirability, the stability of their marriage, etc. That seemed oddly grown up in tone for a book that spent the first 39 chapters discussing the funny and innocent escapades of five year old and tweens.

Excellent company on some long runs! I was very entertained by all the adventures each kid had, and enjoyed older Anne, but it just isn’t the same without Avonlea.

This book fast forwards in Anne's life a bit--she has several kids, al under ~10 years old or so. You see Anne and her family growing up at their long-term home. I liked seeing her kid's personalities and their unique relationships with their mother, and also Anne's influence on the town.
