If you thought Anne got into mischief as a child, wait until you read about her children. This book is a wild romp full of love, laughter, and heart.

Anne of Green Gables was a childhood favorite... I wanted more Anne but it was sweet to see how her children picked up some of her most lovable qualities through their stories. It was fun to revisit characters I once loved.

Not my favorite of the series, and it's a bit of a stretch that this is called *Anne* of Ingleside, since most of the novel is about the children in the family. Anne floats around in the background, then comes in at the end of each episode to console the child and set things right. It's all very episodic, as the novels in this series tend to be, but this time there really isn't any forward movement at all, just a string of incidents in which the kids are picked on by other, meaner and less sensitive children. And I hate to say it, but Anne and her kids are, well, pretty snobbish, and awfully bourgeois. The poorer characters they run across are invariably stupid and/or venal; every character, especially the girls and women, are judged on their physically attractiveness; and fat people are always called out for their size.

Anne of Ingleside focuses on Anne's entire family in this installment of her stories. Although they are quite thematic, especially the tales of her six children (of whom Jem is my favourite), they are fun and it is good to see Anne blossoming into full family life.

I know I've read this book at least once before but I must have missed logging it on Goodreads.

Anne of Ingleside isn't my favorite of the Anne books but it's still very enjoyable. My favorite quote from this year's read -

"What would matter drifted snow and biting wind when love burned clear and bright, with spring beyond? And all the littles sweetnesses of life sprinkling the road" (274).
