Though I mildly enjoyed Matched, I found myself wanting. I excepted to get more and hoped the following books would provide. I could accept the slow start and lack of depth if it came in the later books. But it didn’t. I kept my hopes up after Crossed, kept an open mind that Condie would pull through in the last one. And though I did get more out of Reached, it wasn’t enough to redeem the whole series.
I had such a hard time believing in Cassie and Ky’s love. There was no substance there. Maybe that was just because I found it difficult to believe in Cassie? I liked Ky, I really did but what’s so special about Cassie that the “popular guy” trope AND the “dangerous guy” trope both wanted her?
I won’t deter people from this series but I also won’t be rushing to promote it either. It just is what it is. Not bad but nothing special.

I had to read this quickly, to beat the due date at the library, and I am not sure if that helped out hurt the book. I am glad everything wrapped up, but wasn't disappointed it was over, which its always a sure sign a book was fantastic.
Not a bad series. Fun, exciting storyline. Good characters.
I kind of feel bad that I actually enjoyed the book and the trilogy as a whole. Although I expected better and more romance to take place throughout the trilogy, I was suddenly satisfied at the end of the day, even though the romance was... stable and badly developed. I felt like there was more feeling than acting(kissing and stuff) and I was finally OK and even HAPPY with that. I liked the complexity of the story although the whole thing was kind of predictable. I liked the ships and I agree with Cassia choosing Ky. I also believe that in this book I suddenly realized Ky's feelings for her, but I was frustrated on his feelings about Indie.
I do realize that the author left a lot of things hanging and unexplained. There is a part of me that really hoped for a better ending and wishes for a 4th book in order to give a better ending to the story and -for some peculiar and against everyone else's opinions reason- there is also another part of me (a bigger one) that didn't mind the ending was unclear. It was very unclear about somethings but I didn't mind. It was peaceful and that is all that matters to me. Does that make any sense? No? It's OK.
I can understand why a lot of people disliked it but I can't understand why so little loved it. I am one of them. I think it has to do with my age and the fact that I haven't read The Giver, a book written before the Matched trilogy and apparently inspired Ally Condie. Like A LOT.
I recommend it as a fascinating dystopian novel that involves some romance, an interesting world development and some good, reliving explanations. I would characterize it as the suitable ending of the trilogy. It makes you relate with the characters and understand what they've been through Read it folks!
P. S. Feel free to leave a comment on the reasons why you didn't like the book or the trilogy and your agreements but mostly disagreements on my unpopular thoughts and unusually positive review!

3.75/5
My god, I don't really like Ky it felt like he had literally no personality unlike Xander. And then the kiss with Indie made me not like him more because for a long time, I thought he'd choose her instead of Cassia, but maybe his feelings were just friendship. Idk. But it just felt wrong.
This was also very unnecessary long, but I loved the chapters with Xander, as you can see I love him and his character very dearly. Also, I didn't like who Xander ended up with, it just felt weird. And this just whole book was eh. Better than 2nd, but worse than 1st.

Well I have to admit that I did not want to write this review. I put it off for a bit and finally I decided maybe I should just get it over with. I put it off because I didn't enjoy Reached and that made me angry since I enjoyed the first two books in the series so much.
One of the major issues I had with Reached is the super repetitive writing. This book was not too big, but a decent size, and it probably could have been cut in half. Especially during the beginning and middle of the book it just kept repeating the same things over and over. Which was annoying and also boring.
Another issue that I had is that it switches from Cassia, Ky, and Xander's POV way too often and it's choppy. I have read books where it changed POVs often and it worked, but it didn't in this case. The book did not flow well at all.
Also, I did not care for how the plot went in this one. I feel like Matched and Crossed were great, but I just did not like the whole plague thing out of nowhere in Reached. Not only did I dislike that, but I was not completely satisfied with the ending. It was very rushed at the end and seemed forced to fit together.
Overall as a whole this series is okay. I really enjoyed the first two books, but Reached was difficult to get through. Everything ended OKAY I suppose, but like I said it was rushed. It was also too predictable for me. I am left feeling extremely disappointed by this series.
I recommend Reached to anyone who enjoyed the first two in the series. Just to finish the series and see how it ends. Maybe you will like it better than I did. If you haven't started this series yet, and would like to, then I would recommend you borrow it from the library honestly.

A good end to the series. Overall series was entertaining. Not as good as Hunger Games but still pretty good.
This was such a magnificent conclusion to the Matched trilogy. The pace was fast and I had trouble putting it down. I also found myself falling for Xander again (who I had decided not to like in Crossed since he gave the blue tablets to Cassia) as he redeemed himself the more we saw of him and how nice he truly is. I kept hoping he would have his own happy ending like Cassia and Ky, and am just thrilled that he found that happy ending with Lei (which my mind was just blown at the end when her real identity as Lei Nea {Vicktor's Laney} because I was not expecting that at all). But it all fell into place and made sense after it was revealed. And the way the pilot, poet, and physic was carried throughout to represent the connection between Ky, Cassia, and Xander was so beautifully executed. All of the writing in this novel was just as (and even more so) poetic as Matched and Crossed. This is a series I will definitely be rereading through time.
Update: Ok, I'm ready to try this again.
I don’t know why I thought I needed to finish this series. I wasn't blown away by Matched and I was bored by Crossed, but Reached was definitely the worst.
The characters: The series has ended and I still feel nothing for the characters. I can’t relate to them all. And why does Cassia like Ky all of a sudden? Why didn't she notice him any of the times they hung out before her match banquet? More importantly, why do Ky and Xander like Cassia? What is it about her? She likes poetry and she can “sort” and that’s about all I got out of it. This was a stupid love triangle, too, because everyone knows how it’s going to turn out.
The plot: It was so underdeveloped. The Rising takes over on one page and the next page is 3 weeks later. How did the people react? How did the government react? How did things changes? We will never know.
So much of this series was bland and unimaginative. One reviewer said that maybe the characters were shallow and the names of things like “The Society” and “The Rising” and “The Outer Provinces” were like that to show how uncreative and suppressed this dystopian society is. That's an interesting point, but I don’t agree that it could explain the shallow development of the characters. At least Ky and Xander should have more depth since they've been fighting The Society since day one and they should be different than all the other mainstream citizens.
Bottom line: There are way better YA dystopian trilogies out there; don't waste your time with this one.

There needs to be a save as you go option when you're writing a review. I just wrote a bunch of paragraphs and accidentally clicked somewhere on the screen that made my review window go away and it's all lost now. :( I'll start it again later.
