this was a good book but not great
Beatrice Archer chose the town of Credence, Colorado by throwing darts at a map. Her abrupt departure from the advertising scene in LA involved quitting the job in which she had poured her heart and soul, Now she is adrift, wearing sweats with no bra, eating junk food, and ignoring personal hygiene. When she meets 25 year old Officer Austin Cooper, she immediately falls into lust, but he is too young and she is too messed up to start anything with him. Austin can't stop thinking about Beatrice since he first saw her eating two ice cream cones at the same time and carrying a sack filled with slices of pie, so he decides to spend some time figuring out what makes her tick.
Breaking All the Rules starts strong with Bea doing everything she can to break the rules, but once she begins to conform to societal norms, the story begins to drag. While Bea is obviously depressed, she does nothing to seek help or advice. Bea and Austin are a cute couple despite their ten year age difference, but their relationship doesn't really make much sense and is difficult to believe. In addition, some of Bea's decisions make her unlikable and not worthy of Austin. Overall, Breaking All the Rules is an easy to read, fun story that lacks substance. 3 1/2 stars

4.30⭐
Featuring ~ dual 3rd person POV, cop, small town, reverse age gap (h~35 & H~25), steamage
Bea & Austin were both great characters.
Bea was fun, didn't care about her appearance and she could dog a pie like no other.
Austin was a super sweet, hottie boom bottie cowboy~ish cop.
Bea was really hung up on the age gap, but I found Austin to be very mature for his tender age of 25. The inevitable 3rd act breakup was for the birds and I hated what was said.
FYI ~ the door is wide open for the steamage.
Overall, pretty delightful and I'd be very interested in reading more from this author.
Narrated by Mia Barron for 10 hours and 10 minutes. She did a pretty good job, but we all know by now I prefer a male narrator when I'm getting a dual POV ~ even when it's 3rd person.

This was such a fun & funny read! I’ll definitely be looking at reading more by Amy Andrews - I loved her witty writing.
I listened to the audiobook & really enjoyed it.
Beatrice Archer is lovable and relatable - who doesn’t have those days where you just want to forget it all, run away to a small town & break all the rules? Add in sexy cowboy officer Austin Cooper (and 10 years her junior might I add) and you’ve got yourself a steamy, fun novel!
Her hesitation to give in to what she really wanted - a simple, artist life with a much younger man - was so real. You could feel the pull between doing what you’ve been taught your whole life is right, and following your heart.
My only small thing is that I would have liked a male narrator for Austin’s chapters, however Mia Baron did a fantastic job!
Read if you enjoy:
⭐️ Small town
⭐️ Reverse age gap
⭐️ Banter
⭐️ Different worlds (city girl/country boy)
⭐️ Dual POV/3rd person
Thank you to RB media & NetGalley for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

“Breaking All the Rules” is a small town romance novel, chock full of cheesy dialogue and accompanying characters, that will leave you ready to pack your bags for Credence, Colorado.
I just finished listening to this audiobook and the story’s transformation from beginning to end was a success! The first chapter had little dialogue, so the narration felt a bit stilted at times, but once the story picked up, it was well done.
“Breaking All the Rules” follows Beatrice, a 35 year old, trying to decide what to do with her life after quitting her job. Austin finds Beatrice on a particularly interesting day for her, but instead of being taken aback by her unkempt edges, he is drawn to them. Austin is a “perfect” book boyfriend. Though fair warning, if “panties” is an ick word for you, then you may have a hard time with this story. The word comes up so much that I (almost) found it humorous by the end.
Amy Andrew’s writing in the book manages to be comforting, and also surprising. It makes me want to go buy pie, lots of pie, and reflect on the notion that we can’t allow those who have hurt us, to have dominion over our decisions, and our ability to be happy. It’s a great message!
I hope Amy Andrews gets to continue with her cast of characters in Credence, Colorado. I would love to see a story for Arlo and Winona-their chemistry was jumping off the page!
Thank you to RB Media, and NetGalley for an early audiobook review copy of this book!

Oh my gosh I loved Bea and was soo jealous of give no forks attitude when she up and moves to Credence, the fact that the small town have made up all these different stories about who she is and why she is there had me cracking up along with how Bea first meets Officer Austin which still cracks me up now thinking about it.
You get characters you love as well as see how it's never too late to find the real you and embrace a little crazy along the way and should love come along maybe don't fight it so much when your brain says no but your heart says what's a little age gap!

I dnf this so fast. What 30 some year old says, "I'm a rule breaker", all the time? I'm 35, and I have never hear someone say that.
Beatrice is going through it, She quit her job and finds herself with a man much younger than her who is absolutely smitten with her, Austin the cop. He is so sweet. The characters had a great chemistry throughout the book that made me root for them easily. I love the fact that she threw a dart and ended up in this small town. So 2000s vibes and so cool. I really adore small town romances and this one did not disappoint!
This book made me feel a lot. I laughed, I cried. I enjoyed. Reading about Bea's issues through her mind was just so interesting and honestly relatable. I didn't know that this was part of a series, and I'm excited to read the other one! This had good steam as well for those who like some spice with their romance.

Bea is a 35 year old woman who moved to a town in Colorado to start over. She was passed over for an executive position at her advertising firm and quit with flourish. Now, she spends her days eating pie, watching TV, and rebelling. Enter Austin, a confident 25 year old police officer who takes Bea to the station and puts her in a jail cell. Sparks fly between the two.
I really liked the idea of this book. As 30 something myself who has not been so lucky in the love department, I was intrigued at Bea basically doing what she wants and saying what she feels. I liked how she created a mini bucket list of things to do that challenged or scared her.
I did feel like their conflict was a bit forced in the third act, but Austin was very sweet and understanding. Almost a bit too perfect. The cast of characters was fun. I liked the puns in the book.
Overall it was a decent read. Ends with a happily ever after. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
