I was really drawn into this story. I could see parallels with Divergent and Fourth Wing.. though I wasn’t a fan of FW… so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The main characters were likeable, the world-building was engaging, and I really enjoyed the relationships, even if at times I wished there was a bit more depth.
The betrayal in the story caught me off guard, but some parts did feel a bit predictable, which was unfortunate. Finding out who wolf was, was just so predictable. The ending didn’t exactly make me feel excited to look forward to book 2, but honestly, I enjoyed the ride. The romance was sweet, though once the main couple got together it became more of a subplot. I did feel that there could’ve been so much more to explore in the story itself.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. It’s written well, easy to digest, and paints a vivid picture in your mind. I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series, but this book on its own was a solid, enjoyable read. I can see why this type of book can be divisive, but for me, it worked.
