Another super short book like Micah was. I wasn't all that into this one. I know a lot of peoeple have given up on Anita, but I have still enjoyed the books even as they changed over time. This one just wasn't very good, even I can't defend it. The pacing was weird and other than at the very beginning and very end it did not include any of the normal characters. It felt rushed and unfinished. Glad I checked the ebook out from the library and didn't actually spend money on the kindle version. I feel like if it had been a short story in a collection it would have been fine, but it was pretty pitiful as a stand alone book. I did enjoy her thoughts about writing in the afterword, and I'm glad to hear she's a Tori Amos fan. However, I think if you're using Tori as you musical inspiration you owe it to her to come up with something better than this!

aaaaaand I remember why I usually only read one of these books at a time. Anita is nuts.
I actually quite enjoyed this little foray into Anita's workday. For once a good balance of action and sex.
A quick and fun installment to the series. Once again, this one was pretty action packed. A lot happened in such a short read but it kept me hooked all the way through.

Eighteenth Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel. This installment in the series has to have the shallowest attempt at a plot in the series so far. What attempt there was at a plot moved at break neck speed with little to no sense to the plot. This novel introduces Nicky a recurring character later in the series, but this feels like the laziest attempt to introduce him to the series. Add in the forced bond between Nicky and Anita this book made only made it more awkward and a poor introduction to the series for Nicky. While adding nothing to the series overarching plot or the characters development it was a quick and easy read.
This series has had it, but I can't stop reading it...
A quick little read in the series. I liked this one a lot, it focused a lot on Anita’s powers as a necromancer. It was good.
I liked this book quite a bit despite the fact that LKH used the word flirt about 300 times in the course of the not very long book. This book, except for the first chapter, was Anita old school. It was all about her necromancy and how she is a very powerful animator...so powerful that someone will resort to kidnapping to get her to raise the dead. Sound familiar? It should. This theme has been used before in the Anita Blake series but [b:Flirt|6726595|Flirt (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #18)|Laurell K. The bad guys in this book were new and interesting and reflected just how much things had changed for Anita. All in all a very satisfying read that has left me wanting more Anita...good thing we don't have to wait very long until [b:Bullet|7121598|Bullet (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #19)|Laurell K.
